Finding sources: a rather unusual way

I am working on a story about how parents are able to keep in contact with their children while they are away at college by using various social platforms. But how did I find parents of kids that live hundreds of miles away?

I used the community outreach team at the Columbia Missourian.

I went to the outreach desk and asked them if they could put out a google form for me on the Missourian’s social media accounts. We worked together to find some simple, yet vague questions to ask so we could find different types of sources. I found a family from the St. Louis, MO area and the Los Angeles, CA area. Both sources turned out great! I’ll post the story when it is published.
