Car of the Week – Dodge Challenger SRT Demon

As if Dodge had to make yet another SRT monster. Introducing the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Could they have come up with a more badass name? I don’t think so, this car is going to be truly demonic.

Dodge has been teasing this beast for a while now, all leading up to its reveal at the New York Auto Show in April. So what exactly do we know about this car? The biggest question everyone is asking is, how much power will this thing make? It’s pretty self-explanatory that the Demon will be powered by a version of the supercharged and intercooled Hemi V-8 found in the Challenger SRT Hellcat. But how much more power will it make? According to Car and Driver Magazine, it will top at around 815-hp and torque at more than 700 lb-ft making it shatter the Hellcat’s muscle car record-breaking 707-hp.

What will the Demon look like? The same as all Challengers, but with some extras. To start off, the Demon will have the largest functional cold air intake hood ever installed on a production vehicle, measuring more than 45 square inches, called the ‘Air Grabber’. The Demon will also have two cold air intakes through the headlamps, while the Hellcat only has one on the driver’s side.

The Demon will also have a wider stance compared to the Hellcat. SRT said that the Demon will be a full 3.5 inches wider than the regular Challenger and SRT Hellcat. Spy images of the Demon testing in Detroit show that it may have fender flares and a Demon logo on the side panels. It will also sit on 315/40R18 Nitto NT05Rs, front and rear, the closest thing to drag radials while still being street legal.

Estimated at around $80,000, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will only have a limited production run. Now it’s time to sit and wait until April at the New York Auto Show. How much more will Dodge tease us until then?
